Despite our community’s best intentions, if you build it - they will come, didn’t quite work the way we wanted. Futsal has been growing tremendously in and around Portland, but it has fallen into the same problem as soccer: a boutique sport that requires committed parents willing to pay and drive. It’s not the same game that children across the world play until they either run out of light or are told to come in for dinner. But the courts are there. We just need to show the kids how to use them.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our first Roots Royalty futsal fest on March 26th, 2023. We had over 150 participants, live DJ, live screen printing, free soccer gear bins, and much more. Check out this amazing video produced by Cada Casa student, Sophomore, Ethan Pratt
SUN program
SUN stands for "Schools Uniting Neighborhoods." SUN Community Schools coordinate and provide educational, recreational, social, and health services. SUN Community Schools serve all ages, from preschool to seniors, with a focus on the students in the immediate school community. Roots Futsal will be providing futsal everyday for the MLK Jr SUN program throughout the summer.

At the heart of our program, neighborhood ambassadors are passionate player/coaches who are committed to providing a safe, fun game for everyone. They are often the products of their local soccer community.

There are already so many great organizations doing amazing things in and around Oregon. By partnering with these groups we are able to fulfill our goal of having more kids playing all the time.
